Job Goal:

Support partnerships among the school, parents/caregivers and community to improve student achievement. General responsibilities involve assisting parents/caregivers/family members in participating effectively in their children’s education to help them meet challenging State academic standards.    

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree
  • Experience and desire to work with families of diverse backgrounds, cultures and socio-economic statuses
  • Ability to fluently speak, read and write English and Spanish
  • Willingness to foster collaborative relationships and work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of community resources preferred
  • Adherence to required training and professional development (provided by CUSD)
  • Ability to collaborate and plan with school and district personnel and community-based partners to enhance parent involvement, engagement and learning
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in standard software programs
  • Valid AZ drivers license and willingness to use personal vehicle when needed
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and current fingerprint clearance card

 

Core Job Functions: (includes but is not limited to the following)

  • Assist parents to engage in activities that will improve student academic achievement
  • Assist parents/families in understanding how to support learning in the classroom with activities at home and with after school and extracurricular programs; communicate effectively with their children, teachers and other school staff, and become active participants in the development, implementation and review of school-parent compacts, policies and school planning/improvement
  • Participate in the design and assistance to students not making academic progress
  • Provide and coordinate training and support and materials to parents (such as literacy and/or math training) to help parents work with their children to improve achievement
  • Coordinate with school, district and community partners to remove barriers for family engagement and support continuous improvement efforts
  • Work with educators to improve home-school partnerships and provide information to parents and family members about decision-making opportunities
  • Ensure as best possible that information related to school and parent programs, meetings and other activities is sent in the appropriate home language
  • Coordinate services to increase engagement and remove barriers to family participation in school meetings and trainings (e.g., childcare, transportation)
  • Maximize opportunities for parents to participate in school-related activities by arranging meetings at a variety of times and in a variety of modalities
  • Provide information on Title I status, training opportunities, continuous improvement, student eligibility, right-to-know, and proficiency level targets
  • Follow district policies as outlined and perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed

Physical Requirements – Office:

Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting,  finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction),  focusing ability, or other factors applicable for the job. Employees may be subject to travel, odors,  dust, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, and loud noises. Employees may be required to lift or  exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force to move  objects frequently.
