Title:                           Occupational Therapist

 

 

Job Purpose:

 

To provide our students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become life-long learners and responsible citizens by:

Developing, planning and implementing appropriate therapeutic programs for the students of the district

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Contributes toward a positive, professional working and learning environment by:
  • Responding to all internal and external customers, as it relates to job, in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner
  • Being responsible, reliable and punctual
  • Maintaining courteous relationship with students, staff, parents, and treating others with respect
  • Directing constructive criticism toward improving the district
  • Exercising positive problem solving behavior and conflict resolution skills
  • Adhering to the dress code appropriate for the site and job
  • Sharing sensitive student and staff information on a need to know basis only
  • Participating in student’s daily school experience in a constructive manner
  • Contributes toward productive, efficient operation by:
  • Conducting evaluations, developing and implementing appropriate therapeutic programs for students
  • Reassessing and revising programs as necessary as student’s status changes
  • Participating in the Child Study Team process, consulting with staff and parents
  • Gathering therapeutic equipment and designs specialized equipment as needed
  • Planning and conducting in-service activities in the area of occupational therapy
  • Directing activities of any classified staff as appropriate
  • Performing other related duties as may be assigned by the supervising administrator
  • Meeting with school staff as necessary concerning students
  • Performing all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed
  • Contributes to maintaining a safe, risk-free working and learning environment by:
  • Making the well being of students the fundamental value in all decision making
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships
  • Accepting responsibility for students well being and safety while they are in employee’s care
  • Being alert to and reporting the possibility of any substance use, child abuse, or dangerous situation based upon daily observation
  • Assisting in the maintenance of a quiet and orderly classroom environment
  • Operating and caring for school district’s equipment properly
  • Following district policies as outlined
  • Performing all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed by supervisors
  • Continues job performance enhancement by:
  • Participating in and/or leading in-service programs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy required
  • Completion of six to nine months of supervised clinical affiliations
  • Current certification with American Occupational Therapy Association required
  • Knowledge of and adheres to all policies, regulations and rules
  • Ability to change and adapt to variable schedules and work with multiple teams
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer and related software
  • Satisfactory criminal background check

  • Ability to exert 10-30 lbs of force, to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects
