JOB TITLE:                 MATH SPECIALIST

SALARY RANGE:         CERTIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE

 

 

Job Goal

 

Math interventionists provide support to classroom teachers, administrators and students through modeling, collaborative planning, observing, coaching, team teaching, resource development and facilitating study groups. In addition, the math specialist may provide systematic and explicit intervention for students who approach or fall far below in math standards.

 

 

Qualifications

 

1. Masters Degree

2. AZ Teaching Certificate

3. Mathematics Approved Area on certificate

4. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience

5. Knowledge of current research and best practices in mathematics

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

1. Creates a classroom environment conducive to positive, effective instruction

2. Facilitates instruction based on current research-based best practices in mathematics

3. Uses district and state assessment data to improve instruction.

4. Provides individual diagnostic testing to assess student needs.

5. Participates in team reviews concerning academic progress of at-risk students

6. Attends scheduled meetings and parent conferences

7. Plans and implements a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.

8. Communicates objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language

9. Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical manner

10. Maintains accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.

11. Assumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments.
